WELCOME
Thanks so much for visiting us, and for considering River School as the preschool for your child.
We offer programs for children ages 2.5 – 6 years old in Yarmouth, Maine during a typical “school year” schedule of September – mid-June, with summer camps in July and August.
We are also Introducing afternoons at River: The new morning public pre-K program at Rowe ends at 11:25am and Rowe will provide bus service to River School. We are offering options for afternoon programs at River ending at 3 or 5 p.m. Please visit our Afternoon Program page for more details.
Our mission at River is to provide children a unique and meaningful experience which promotes a life-long love of learning, helps them become creative, resilient, and caring individuals as well as contributing members of our school and global community.

WHAT WE OFFER
At River, we blend pedagogy from Reggio Emilia, Waldorf, and Montessori.
We most often use the arts as a point of departure in the exploration of topics that interest the children and through the exploration of seasonal themes.
You can expect your child to experience:
A mix of guided and child-led Montessori-influenced “works”
Collaborative and individual art projects
“Old-school” preschool crafts
Hands-on weekly baking
Yoga/meditation classes
Singing, movement, dramatic play, giggles, and a lot of outside time!
